About Zurich and its gay life

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland (with a population of one million people including the suburbs) and the economic and cultural centre of the country.
It is also one of the leading financial centres world-wide.

As the wealthiest city in Europe and with its privileged location at the idyllic Lake Zurich with view of the snow-covered mountains, Zurich belongs to the cities with the highest quality of life in the world.

Zurich also has a vivid cultural life, including among others countless museums and galleries, the birthplace of the Dada movement ›Cabaret Voltaire‹, the renowned Zurich Opera House and the Schauspielhaus theatre, the Fraumünster church with the stained glass choir windows by Marc Chagall, the Kunsthaus Zürich with its large collection of modern art, the clubs in the trendy Langstrasse quarter in Zürich-West, the Techno Street Parade in August and many more.

Annual gay highlights in Zurich are the gay & lesbian film festival Pink Apple in spring, the culture festival Warmer Mai, Zurich Gay Pride (CSD) in June, the Lake Zurich crossing in summer, the White Party in May and the Black Party in November. In June 2009 Zurich hosted the EuroPride 09.
